Mentoring for Students and Recent Graduates
Elizabeth's passion for nursing ensures she has a keen interest in supporting nursing students and new graduate nurses. Various studies show that the majority of students find that the greatest benefit they receive from mentorship is being able to share their experience of nursing as well as listen to the lived experiences of nursing from their mentor.

As greater and greater demands are put on us as nurses we need to find a way to support ourselves. Whilst improving our clinical skills is important it is also essential that we develop supportive work habits, such as learning how to do shift work, working with multiple teams, dealing with challenging behaviours and any issues that may arise with working in stressful environments.

I can highly recommend Elizabeth Dolan as a mentor for both students and new graduates as I had the benefit of working with her as both a student and new graduate Registered Nurse. Elizabeth’s strengths lie in her calm manner and work practices, her wealth of experience, and her absolute passion for nursing. I personally benefitted greatly from ongoing discussions with Elizabeth as she is most approachable, non-judgemental, and I felt that she was (and still is) genuinely interested in my career progression. Elizabeth knows when to push you to further yourself, or alternatively, when to pull back and reassess, and this made me feel most safe as both a pre and post graduate nurse.

Graduate Experiences
Andrew was a new graduate
Andrew was a new graduate registered nurse. He was struggling with night shift. He engaged me for a series of consults to support him with integrating shift work into his life and addressing the resentment he was feeling around having to do the late hours (a common issue amongst shift workers). He began to look at how he was approaching night shift, both physically and mentally. He noticed that his attitude to working late hours was affecting him just as much as the lack of sleep. With a set of simple self care tools that he could implement daily he was able to bring a freshness and passion to his work that he had not yet experienced on night shift before.
Jenny was a fourth year nurse
She had decided to go for a more senior role within the organisation. Jenny contacted Elizabeth for some support with building her confidence with the interview process...she went into the job interview relaxed and steady. She found out a few weeks later that she got the job.

Getting Job Ready
Peter was a third year nursing student. He was about to graduate but was lacking confidence in his skills. He engaged Elizabeth to refresh some of the clinical skills he had learned at university so that he felt job ready. Having a bit more everyday experience was invaluable to his confidence in those first few months.
